Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
| Educational Criteria | Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University as on the crucial cut-off date. |
| Skill Requirement | Shorthand speed: 100 wpm for Grade C; 80 wpm for Grade D in English or Hindi. |
| Age Limit | Stenographer Grade C: 18 to 30 years. Stenographer Grade D: 18 to 27 years. Standard government relaxations for SC/ST (5 yrs), OBC (3 yrs), and PwBD (10 yrs). |
Pay Scale & Allowances
Stenographer Grade ‘C’ positions carry Level 6/7 pay scale (Basic Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 44,900) yielding gross monthly salary around Rs. 62,000/-. Grade ‘D’ carries Level 4 pay scale (Basic Rs. 25,500) yielding gross salary around Rs. 44,000/- per month in Metropolitan cities.
Selection Process & Examination Pattern
- Computer Based Examination (CBE): 200 Questions (2 Hours): General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 marks), General Awareness (50 marks), English Language & Comprehension (100 marks).
- Skill Test in Stenography: Dictation for 10 minutes at 80/100 wpm transcribed on computer. Qualifying nature.
- Document Verification: Verification of 10+2 marksheet and category certificates by user departments.

- Pay examination fee of Rs. 100/- via online mode (Women/SC/ST/PwBD/ESM exempt).
