Ministry of Railways Mega Notification: The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have announced Centralised Employment Notice CEN 04/2026 for 32,450 Level-1 vacancies including Track Maintainer Grade-IV, Pointsman, Assistant Bridge, and Workshop Assistants across all 16 Zonal Railways.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
| Minimum Education | 10th Pass (Matriculation) from a recognized Board OR National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT OR 10th Pass plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT. |
| Age Threshold | 18 to 36 years as of July 1, 2026 (including 3-year COVID relief). Upper age relaxations: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC-NCL. |
| Physical Fitness | Passing the mandatory Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is compulsory for all non-PwBD shortlisted candidates. |
Pay Scale & Allowances
Level-1 employees receive an initial basic pay of Rs. 18,000/- per month. Along with Central Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, Risk & Hardship Allowance (Rs. 2,700/month for Track Maintainers), Night Duty Allowance, and complete free Railway Medical Attendance, gross monthly earnings range from Rs. 31,500/- to Rs. 38,000/-.
Selection Process & Examination Pattern
- Computer Based Test (CBT): 100 Questions for 100 Marks in 90 minutes. General Science (25 Qs), Mathematics (25 Qs), General Intelligence & Reasoning (30 Qs), and General Awareness & Current Affairs (20 Qs). Negative marking: 1/3rd.
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Male: Carry 35 kg weight for 100 metres in 2 minutes without putting down, and run 1000 metres in 4 minutes 15 seconds. Female: Carry 20 kg for 100 metres in 2 mins, and run 1000 metres in 5 mins 40 secs.
- Document Verification & Medical Examination: Candidates qualifying CBT and PET are called for DV strictly based on normalized CBT merit followed by medical scrutiny.
How to Apply Online
- Visit
rrbapply.gov.inand complete One-Time Account verification with Aadhaar. - Choose your desired Railway Zone and select post priority.
- Enter 10th Class / ITI roll numbers and technical credentials.
- Upload recent colour photograph with white background and digital signature.
- Pay CBT fee (Rs. 500/- with Rs. 400/- refundable upon attending CBT for Unreserved; Rs. 250/- fully refundable for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Female).
- Submit and print the application acknowledgment.
