Ministry of Railways Technical Notification: The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have issued Centralised Employment Notice CEN 03/2026 for the recruitment of 7,951 Junior Engineers (JE), Depot Material Superintendents (DMS), and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistants (CMA) across all zonal railways and production units.

Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
| Junior Engineer (Design & Maintenance) | Three years Diploma in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Production / Automobile / Tools & Die Engineering from a recognized University/Institute OR B.E. / B.Tech degree. |
| DMS & CMA | DMS: Diploma in any Engineering branch. CMA: Bachelor’s Degree in Science (B.Sc.) with Physics and Chemistry with minimum 45% marks. |
| Age Threshold | 18 to 36 years as of July 1, 2026 (including 3-year COVID age relaxation). Plus 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC-NCL. |
Pay Scale & Allowances
All appointed Junior Engineers, DMS, and CMA candidates receive an initial basic pay of Rs. 35,400/- per month in Pay Level-6 of 7th CPC. With Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance (9% to 27%), Transport Allowance, and Railway pass privileges, gross starting remuneration approximates Rs. 62,000/- to Rs. 70,000/- per month depending on posting classification.
Selection Process & Examination Pattern
- CBT Stage I (Screening Examination): 100 Multiple Choice Questions in 90 minutes. Mathematics (30 Qs), General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 Qs), General Awareness (15 Qs), General Science (30 Qs). Negative marking: 1/3rd.
- CBT Stage II (Technical & Core Abilities): 150 MCQs in 120 minutes. General Awareness (15 Qs), Physics & Chemistry (15 Qs), Basics of Computers (10 Qs), Basics of Environment (10 Qs), and Technical Abilities of chosen engineering stream (100 Qs).
- Document Verification & Medical Examination: Candidates shortlisted based on normalized CBT-2 scores undergo strict document verification followed by comprehensive medical fitness tests.

- Choose the specific Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and post groups corresponding to your diploma/degree stream.
- Fill in academic records, exam center preferences, and verify contact info.
- Upload digital photograph and signature as per prescribed pixel dimensions.
- Pay examination fee (Rs. 500/- with Rs. 400/- refundable upon attending CBT-1 for General/OBC; Rs. 250/- fully refundable for SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen/Female).
- Submit form and retain confirmation PDF.
