Eligibility Criteria & Qualifications
| Educational Qualification | Graduate degree in any subject from a recognized University or equivalent qualification recognized by the State Government. Final year appearing candidates eligible subject to passing on or before closing date. |
| Age Limit (as on 01/08/2026) | Minimum 20/21/22 years (post-dependent). Maximum age: General Male 37 years; General Female/BC/EBC 40 years; SC/ST 42 years. |
| Physical Standard (For DSP only) | Male: Height 5 feet 5 inches, Chest 32 inches unexpanded. (SC/ST: 5 feet 3 inches, Chest 31 inches). Female: Height 5 feet 2 inches. |
Pay Scale & Allowances
Level 9 posts (SDM, DSP, Assistant Commissioner) offer a starting basic salary of Rs. 53,100/- with Dearness Allowance (DA 50%+), HRA, Medical, and transport perks exceeding Rs. 82,000/- monthly. Level 7 posts carry a basic pay of Rs. 44,900/- with gross remuneration approx. Rs. 70,000/- per month.
Selection Process & Examination Pattern
- Stage 1: Preliminary Examination: 150 Multiple Choice Questions (150 Marks, 2 Hours) testing General Studies with negative marking (1/3rd mark deduction for each incorrect answer).
- Stage 2: Main Written Examination: Descriptive exam consisting of General Hindi (100 marks – qualifying), GS Paper 1 (300 marks), GS Paper 2 (300 marks), Essay (300 marks), and Optional Subject (100 marks – qualifying MCQ).
- Stage 3: Personal Interview: 120 marks interview assessing personality and administrative caliber. Final merit prepared out of 1,020 marks.

- Pay application fee of Rs. 600/- (Rs. 150/- for SC/ST/Female/PwD of Bihar).
